Meet the artist
Hello! I'm Amber Walsh, the artist behind the art. I was born in sunny Tampa, Florida, but I spent much of my formative years in the scenic landscapes of North Georgia. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems in 2022 from Kennesaw State University. While proud of my degree, I have decided to take on the challenge of exploring my creative passion for art, woodburning, and expanding my craft.
It all started with my dad introducing me to a cool new art tool, a woodburning engraving kit for beginners. I had heard about woodburning and had even seen results of woodburning in my high school art classes, but never gave it much thought. Now that I had the tool in hand, the ideas were endless. Pictured on the left is one of my first major woodburning pieces I ever completed. To get an idea of the size of this piece, I am 5’6”! This was the start of it all, an idea and a dad taking his daughter to Home Depot, the rest is history. The piece is by no means perfect; I have learned many lessons from this one piece alone, and I am still learning new things today. This artwork is now framed, the frame which is made by my dad, and is a staple in my home. It’s a reminder of where it started, and that any idea you may have, big or small, you can accomplish if you put your mind to it.
Today, I continue to push the boundaries of my craft, drawing inspiration from traditional mandala artwork and modern contemporary work and expressing it through woodburning. Thank you for joining me on this artistic adventure. Let's explore the beauty of pyrography together!
